Hendrik Stoel (Erik)

Erik Stoel was officially appointed a Director of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad and as Managing Director of the Group on 1 June 2016.
Erik first joined the British American Tobacco Group in 1995 as Brand Manager in Ukraine. He has now more than twenty years of international experience in the BAT Group that spans across the London Head Office, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific markets. One of Erik’s assignments was to serve as Marketing Director of BAT Malaysia in 2010-2012 before moving to Korea as BAT Korea’s Marketing Director. Subsequently, he was promoted to his prior role of Area Director North Asia Area, responsible for Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
Erik holds a degree in Marketing from Hanzehogeschool Groningen, Netherlands and Masters in Business Administration from University of Northumbria at Newcastle, England.
Datuk Christine Lee Oi Kuan

Corporate and Legal Affairs Director
Datuk Christine Lee Oi Kuan was appointed a Director of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad on 1 March 2012.
She was appointed to the Top Team, now known as Leadership Team of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad on 1 January 2006 and assumed the role of Corporate and Legal Affairs Director of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad on 1 September 2006. She has been with British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad since 2001.
Datuk Christine Lee began her career in British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad as Head of Legal and Company Secretary. She was previously the Legal Manager and Company Secretary of two public listed companies, Hong Leong Industries Berhad and Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad.
Holder of a degree in law from the University of Malaya, Datuk Christine Lee served at the Attorney General’s Chambers, Malaysia from 1983-1993 in the Prosecution and Advisory and International Law Divisions.
In her current role as the Corporate and Legal Affairs Director, Datuk Christine Lee is responsible for corporate and regulatory affairs and legal matters of the Group.

Pablo Sconfianza assumed the role of Finance Director, British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad, on 21 June 2014, and was officially appointed a Director of the Group on 1 May 2014.
Pablo joined British American Tobacco’s entity in Argentina as the Head of Treasury and Corporate Finance for Mercosul Cluster (Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay) in 2005.
In 2008, Pablo was appointed Regional Head of Marketing Finance for the Americas Region, where he was also a member of the Global Marketing Finance Council and the Global Excise Team. In his next role in 2010, Pablo moved to Moscow as Head of Finance Supply Chain Eastern Europe, where he actively supported the Supply Chain integration under the new Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Subsequently, in September 2011, Pablo assumed the role of Finance Director of British American Tobacco Romania.
Prior to joining British American Tobacco, Pablo worked in private equity and mergers and acquisitions areas, both in Brazil and Argentina.
Pablo holds a degree in Business Administration from UCA (Catholic University, Argentina) and has a masters’ degree in Management and Corporate Finance from Fundação Getulio Vargas (Getulio Vargas Foundation) in Brazil.
Gavin Ong Yew Dee
Gavin Ong was appointed Operations Director of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad on 1 July 2015. He joined BAT’s entity in Singapore as a Department Engineer in 1996. Gavin has held various roles in the BAT Group and prior to his most recent role as Head of Operations – China Project, he was appointed as the Head of Supply Chain & General Manager of the Primary Manufacturing Department in the Vietnam Cluster from July 2011 to September 2013.
In 2001, Gavin was seconded to British American Tobacco China, based in Hong Kong and Beijing, where he was involved in factory improvements and project works. He subsequently moved back to Singapore in 2004 to head the Manufacturing Operations which involved factory expansion and transforming BAT Singapore into one of the five Innovation Manufacturing Hubs in the world.
As part of his development, Gavin was tasked with the role of Head of Supply Chain, Singapore in 2009 and was involved in the delivery of 500+ SKUs to 20+ customers within the Asia Pacific region.
Gavin holds a Bachelor Degree from Queen’s University of Belfast and a Masters’ Degree in Science from the National University of Singapore.
Marcelo Alvarenga Guimaraes
Marcelo Alvarenga Guimaraes was appointed Marketing Director of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad on 1 January 2013. He joined BAT’s entity in Brazil, Souza Cruz as a Management Trainee in 1995 and has held various positions in Marketing.
In 2002, he joined the Regional Team in LACAR and was subsequently seconded to BATCCA (BAT Caribbean and Central America) and then to Nobleza Piccardo (BAT’s entity in Argentina, also overlooking Paraguay and Uruguay). He returned to Souza Cruz in 2007, becoming Head of Brands in 2008.
In 2010, Marcelo moved to British American Tobacco plc as Marketing Sustainability and Innovation Strategy Manager in Central Marketing and after that joined the Strategy and Planning Team, playing a key role in the Global Resource Allocation and the Re-articulation of the Global Strategy.
Marcelo holds a BSc in Economics from Pontificia Universidade Catolica of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, MBA from Manchester Business School, UK and Master of Business Knowledge Management from Coppe/Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Human Resources Director
Samanmali Chandrasiri was appointed Human Resources Director of British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Berhad on 1 March 2016.
Having first joined the BAT Group as a Management Trainee, Samanmali has now been of service with the Group for 16 years. She has held various HR roles in Sri Lanka and South Asia including Area Head of Talent SAA, before moving to Indonesia as the Organisation Effectiveness Advisor for Bentoel Group. Samanmali later returned to Sri Lanka in 2013 as the HR Director where she facilitated the implementation of a more sustainable business model prior to her current role.
Samanmali holds a BSc in Management from the University of London and an MBA from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
